Creative Journey
I would like to tell you a little story about me.
.
First of all I want to thank YOU! You are fucking amazing!
The feedback I experienced in the last few weeks and months was incredibe and I‘m blessed with all the support you gave me. This animated illustration up here was one of the most popular drawings and I would like to tell you the story behind it.
.
Last summer I had around 350 subscribers on Instagram, wrote my final assignment, had no successful jobs and fell into a hole. I wasn’t really happy about the situation and I worked for a small agency at this time. Along with my two bosses and me, there was only one other employee who worked on different design and web projects with us. We did everything and nothing. I guess everyone with no segmentation and no specialized portfolio knows what I mean. We had no clear visions or ideas, we had no specialization and no clients who would hire us for our great skills. The jobs we did were exercises and problems that had to be solved. Back then I realized that by the end of September the above mentioned time will be over and I have to seek after a new vision. That is quite good to know, because a lot of people don‘t have this important information about themselves. But where do you get such a vision? It’s not like going to amazon.com or visiting the small grocery store at the corner. No! This one is huge!
.
At this time around I got one last task from my two bosses who told me that I should do something that describes my time and experiences over the last three years. I could do what I wanted for example to create only two pages, an animation movie, a website or anything else. In the end, I quickly decided to write and create a whole book. Over one hundred pages full of stories, illustrations and ideas. After two months of working on the book, the illustration above was on my final page. It portrays me sitting at my desk. My right foot is around the chair like almost every time when I draw and I’m totally inside this new world. The story to this illustration is short but expresses my feelings perfectly:
.
Creativity is pure magic. Sitting at my desk and working on new ideas is such an amazing activity. I wrote about my journey and all the steps that brought me forward. But I’m sure it was never more true than it was at this time: I’m still at the beginning.
.
It was at my first vacation in the last four years after publishing the book when I suddenly knew what I wanted to do. I want to show the people exactly these magic moments, how to express themselves and the chance to love the work that they do! I started with publishing four illustrations every week and now I‘m only two days apart from starting to publish every day for one whole year. I’m not sure if there are enough ideas in my head or time in my schedule to reach this target. But I can tell you that I know that’s the next step on my creative journey and I would love to go thru it together with YOU!
